Mooroopna McDonald’s restaurant manager Melek Karslioglu says leading and training people is what she loves about her role.
“It’s awesome that I get to hire people; sometimes it’s their very first job,” she said.
“I can help coach and develop them with skills to help them grow in our organisation or they can take with them into their next career role.”
Mrs Karslioglu started out with Maccas as a crew member in 2012, rapidly climbing the ranks by taking advantage of the in-house leadership training available and eventually taking on a management position after completing a Certificate III.
After taking a hiatus of a few years after the birth of her daughter, Mrs Karslioglu has continued to grow her professional career with Maccas without missing a beat, and has achieved her goal of running her own store.
“I've always had a passion for McDonald's ... like they say ‘ketchup in the veins’, I've always wanted to move up in the ranks,” she said.
McDonald’s understands that its people have busy lives and families to take care of, which is why the company offers flexibility to team members to maintain a sustainable work-life balance while developing their careers.
“At McDonald’s Mooroopna and all our Shepparton restaurants we aim to provide much more than just a job for our employees,” people and culture manager Cheryl Tapscott said.
“We want to offer an enriching and varied employment experience while providing exciting long-term career prospects for everyone.”
