Tatura’s first female barber is over the moon to be living her dream.
“Once upon a time there was a girl who dreamed about opening her own barber shop, so she did, the end,” Grand Central Barber Shop, owner/barber Jodie Newell said, then she laughed.

Jodie has been trimming beards and cutting boys and men’s hair now for more than a decade.
She described her role as being the best job in the world and said the connections she made through a reflection in a mirror, were more than just a haircut.
“I love people, I love kids, I love laughing and I love to chat,” she said.
“Every day is awesome, because I’m doing what I love.”
In mid-May an opportunity came to fruition for Jodie as she was offered a dream space to have her very own unique barber shop, and without too much of a thought and an encouraging push from husband Kyle Vincitorio, she said she knew this was her time and the opportunity to make her childhood dream come true.
Grand Central Barber Shop is one of the many new businesses to ignite Tatura’s main street, and as far as uniqueness goes, this place can’t be missed.
Memorabilia covers the inside for as far as your eye can see, like a wondrous distraction every way you look, but it’s Jodie’s refreshing look on life, her charm and energy that warms this space the most.
“I am so excited to have my own space that I have been able to design and bring to life, while embracing my passion and love for what I do,” Jodie said.
“I think I am the first female barber in Tatura, which is really exciting.”
If you are a male between the age of one and 100, then this place is worth a visit.
Jodie’s creative vision is not only in her welcoming atmosphere as you step into her shop, but it also extends within her unique ability and exceptional understanding and passion for her trade and love for finally living her dream.
