The Goulburn River is enjoying a fresh pulse of environmental water this week, lifting the river volume at Shepparton to about 6000 Ml/day.
The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority hopes the burst will assist breeding of golden and silver perch fish.
Goulburn Valley Environment Group has welcomed the “autumn fresh” as it is called, but is also asking for Goulburn Valley people to note the size of the flow.
River authorities are planning trials of pulses of up to 6000 Ml/day down the river during late spring and early summer and the environment group is concerned that this will create unseasonal and unnatural flow rates.
