Dairy breeder and judge, Matt Templeton, has been awarded the Lex Bunn award in recognition of his contribution to the industry.
The award was made after Wednesday’s Jersey judging for International Dairy Week at Tatura Park.
Dairy week co-founder Brian Leslie instituted the Lex Bunn award at IDW in 2002 to recognise someone in the industry who is a major contributor but who does not seek recognition.
The award is voted on by previous recipients. It acknowledges the memory of Ayrshire breeder, Lex Bunn of Tatura.
Mr Templeton, his wife Nicola and parents, operate View Fort Holsteins at Terang in western Victoria.
In August last year, he became the first Australian to judge the Wisconsin championship show in the United States, for both the Holstein and Jersey breeds.
In presenting the award, Mr Leslie noted Mr Templeton had been involved in International Dairy Week since he was a boy and his skills had been recognised internationally.
Mr Templeton thanked his family for their support.
