Many Victorian wheat farmers continue to relish in a bumper harvest this season as GrainCorp’s Victorian network breaks new records, with local farmers reaping almost a quarter of that figure.
The east coast grain handling giant — one of the ‘big six’ operating in Australia — said that 3.5 million tonnes had been received in silos so far this harvest.
GrainCorp operations general manager Nigel Lotz said the local network recently broke the record for the most grain received in one day with 230,000 tonnes being delivered.
“The quality across all commodities has been excellent, which is very pleasing for growers,” Mr Lotz said.
“Good growing conditions throughout the year means that we’re experiencing another strong year of harvest receivals, particularly in areas like central Victoria.”
GrainCorp’s north-east sites have so far taken more than 800,000 tonnes of grain
The corporation has operating sites at Echuca, Tocumwal, Yarrawonga, Dookie, Elmore and Numurkah.
