On Saturday, 19 April, the Benalla RSL conducted a commemorative service at the Benalla Cemetery War Memorial, honouring air force personnel who lost their lives during preparations for World War II.

The ceremony was led by Benalla RSL president Paul Hartland and attended by fellow club associates and members of the public who were there to pay their respects.
Benalla Salvation Army Corps Captain Ben Anderson was there as a representative to lead the opening prayer, the ending prayer and to perform the Last Post.

Attendees placed bright red poppies at the base of the flagpole, paying tribute to fallen servicemen and women.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of the Ode, the Last Post and the Australian national anthem.
