That’s exactly the case for the Euroa Arboretum — 27 hectares of restored grassy woodland.
The facility has captured the attention of Gardening Australia as it has grown from a barren old sheep farm and storage depot in the 1990s, to the flourishing parkland it is today.
The popular ABC TV show’s crew spent a day filming at the Euroa Arboretum recently.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Laura Binks said it was a fantastic opportunity for the Euroa Arboretum — an exceptional example of what Strathbogie Shire has to offer.
“We are so proud to have facilities such as the Euroa Arboretum — it is a true testament to community spirit, largely supported by volunteers,” Cr Binks said.
“It is a facility that fosters incredible relationships with Traditional Owners the Taungurung people, offering a venue for cultural workshops and tours.
“Another aspect of the Arb which I’m sure captured the attention of Gardening Australia is its incredible seedbank.
“The Arb successfully manages one of only three public seedbanks in Victoria and it’s a way of future-proofing native plant habitats, landscapes and species.”
Cr Binks said she was recently pleased to engage with the Euroa Arboretum to prepare the national submission for the 2022 Australian Tidy Town Sustainability Awards.
“The Arb won its category, being crowned the national winner of the Environmental Sustainability — Natural Environment Management award,” she said.
Cr Binks said viewers would have to wait with anticipation for the episode to air.
“The episode will appear in next year’s season of Gardening Australia on ABC which airs on Friday nights from 7.30pm and is repeated on Sundays from 1.30pm,” she said.
“Stay tuned on either the council or the Euroa Arboretum’s social media to find out when the episode is set to air.”
