As the college’s 2022 vice-captain and music leader, Kesalini is familiar with juggling her passions.
And as a multi-faceted musician with a keen interest in business, she has had to make the tough decision of choosing which of her interests would take the number one spot in her university preferences.
The 17-year-old selected her first choice as a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) at Deakin University in an online format, though she won’t forget her artistic talents along the way.
“I also want to do something in the community just to stay connected in a way,” she said.
“And I’ll keep my music alive just to have something passionate on the side, so then there’s something to drive me forward.”
Kesalini has lived in Shepparton since she began Year 8 at the former Shepparton High School, previously having grown up in New Zealand.
She said the move had helped her become a more independent person.
“You just learn so much when you’re adapting with change, you grow with it.
“I think it’s really good being independent, being able to find your own purpose in this world, and high school has just been that extra bit that adds to your life.”
Kesalini said while her career goals in business were still quite ambiguous, she was looking forward to what the future holds.
“I think the degree is relevant with lots of things I want to do,” she said.
“But I’m just seeing how life goes, I’m just going to go with the flow.”
