PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Richmond appeared poised to upset Adelaide until an unlikely hero popped up. Adelaide's Abbie Ballard had never kicked an AFLW goal prior to Saturday's game at Punt Road Oval. But she drifted across to intercept a final-quarter kickout, then kicked truly to put Adelaide in front by a point. Two minutes later, Ballard earned a free kick and sent a wonderful long-range shot home to seal the deal.
THE MOMENT: Melbourne forward Alyssa Bannan had little influence on the Demons' big clash with North Melbourne, until it really mattered. North Melbourne had pinched the lead late in Friday's match at the MCG when Eliza West burst forward and spotted up Bannan, who with a defender on her tail, pulled off an athletic snap as she fell, snatching the victory.
STATS THAT MATTER: It's not a stat Fremantle will want to remember. The Dockers recorded the lowest score in AFLW history, notching just a single point in their 26-point loss to Geelong. It was also the first time Fremantle have gone goalless in their history.
TALKING POINT: Britney Gutknecht's horror injury overshadowed the Bulldogs' win over Fremantle. The lower part of Gutknecht's right leg snapped after Port Adelaide's Abbey Dowrick attempted to smother her kick in the second quarter of Saturday's game. Play was halted for 31 minutes while Gutknecht, in obvious agony, was attended to by medical staff, with her teammates on hand for support, before eventually being taken to hospital via ambulance.
INJURIES: B Gutknecht (WB, leg), G O'Sullivan (Frem, hamstring), J Lambert (Coll, ankle), J Stanton (GC, knee), B Smith (WC, ribs), J Van Dyk (St K, knee), T Luke (Haw, knee), L Stephenson (Haw, ankle).
WHAT'S NEXT: Adelaide's clash with North Melbourne looks the pick of the bunch, while unbeaten Geelong can show how their form stacks up when they face Collingwood. Cross-town rivals Sydney and GWS will face off for the first time as Brisbane and Gold Coast contest the Q-Clash.
