These young people not only turn up, they play an integral part in the service.
In all 21 students, accompanied by several teachers, were in attendance for the commemorative service in the shire hall.
Three senior students - Matilda Eddy, Ethan Hadley and Gemma Van Zutphen, acted as Masters of Ceremonies, welcoming attendees before introducing the Archdeacon Wayne Sheean to share a prayer with those in attendance and later guest speaker, son of Mathoura, Michael Murphy.
They also joined their fellow students in singing the school’s version of the popular song – We Are Australian - before inviting all present to join the march to the cenotaph for the wreath laying ceremony.
Groups and individuals laying wreaths were introduced, then the flags were again raised before the youngsters wrapped up the proceedings.
The Mathoura RSL Sub Branch’s Dawn Service held at 5am that day attracted a large attendance of locals and visitors, as did the Gunfire breakfast cooked and served by Sub Branch members and supporters which followed in the War Memorial Hall.
Congratulations to the organisers for a great day of commemoration.

The $15 admission will include morning tea, lunch, raffles and a lucky door prize.
For catering purposes, organisers would ask prospective attendees to register with Marie Crack on 5884 3304.
